This week, Fancards Co-Founder Greg Boggs was honored as a part of the Birmingham Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Class of 2024. It was a special year for the award as it marked the 40th edition of the list that began in 1984. The Fancards' team celebrated Greg's award at The Haven, located in downtown Birmingham, on Feb. 15.
Greg earned his spot for his notable achievements guiding the growth of Fancards. Highlights include:
- Nearly one million gift cards sold with close to $100 million in funds loaded.
- Retail growth with Fancards Gift Cards sold in more than 20,000 retail locations nationwide.
- Negotiating partnerships with more than 40 college athletic programs and college football bowl games.
- Developing the Benjamin by Fancards payments management software as a service platform.
Greg is also very involved in his alma mater, Samford University Entrepreneurship, Management, and Marketing Advisory Board. Greg has mentored dozens of Samford students, and developed an internship pipeline with the university, providing more than a dozen students with their first hands-on work experience.
Away from the office, Greg is active in his community. He has emerged as a leader within the faith-based fitness movement, F3, helping to grow the local Birmingham chapters through membership and community stewardship opportunities. He also serves as the head coach for his oldest son's flag football team. He is a positive role model for the team, instilling a sense of being bigger than themselves through teamwork to overcome adversity in all forms.
Prior to Fancards, Greg graduated from Samford University and began his career with the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, leading the organization's marketing efforts for two years. During his tenure, Greg kicked off the Hall of Fame’s digital marketing presence with the development of their official website. From there, he moved on to serve as a project manager at a full-service digital advertising startup, Vehicle Media, based in Birmingham and Atlanta.
